Overview of outbound
exchange programs
Based on academic exchange agreements concluded by the Faculty of Engineering and the Graduate School of Science and Technology, we offer short-term (from one to three months) exchange programs at schools in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Taiwan. At these schools, students integrate into a laboratory in a special field and conduct research activities with local faculty and students; the aim is not only to acquire expert knowledge, but also to train students to be active internationally. This program provides assistance with living expenses, and provides pre- and post-exchange opportunities that both prepare and reinforce student experiences.

About our short-term overseas programs
Ph.D. students have opportunities to visit our network of partner schools throughout Asia through short-term programs lasting around one month. Partner schools include Taiwan's National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology and National Chiao Tung University, Indonesia's Bandung Institute of Technology and Gadjah Mada University, and the University of Malaya in Malaysia. These programs offer more than simply study and research; students visit relevant organizations, get a feel for local industry, and meet Japanese employees working in the local area. Students will be matched to laboratories or research facilities in the relevant specialized field of the host university. While conducting research, students will have opportunities to share and exchange ideas with local faculty and students.
Kanken Study Abroad (KSA) Project
About the Kanken Study Abroad (KSA) Project
The KSA Project is an exchange program led by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. We've established partnerships with universities across Asia in order to enhance students' individual abilities through exchange studies. You've probably heard the word "globalization". It's clear that Japan will increasingly expand into Asia to participate in Civil and Environmental projects. Japanese students have to chance to study at an Asian university for one month, or up to four months (one semester), and get a feel for cultures that differ from Japan. While gaining insights into construction and the environment, the program pushes students to collaborate with different people across cultures and languages. The KSA Project started in 2011 with a single exchange with Ulsan University in Korea, but grew to a total of five university study programs by 2017.

@ CSU Sacramento
About the Short-term Exchange Program @ CSU Sacramento
This program offers 5 students the chance to study Mechanical Engineering using authentic English at California State University, Sacramento. Learning in a new and different environment gives students the chance to gain a deeper and broader perspective on mechanical engineering concepts, and practice using field-specific English as well. The program lasts about two weeks.
Double Degree Program (DDP)
About the Double Degree Program (DDP)
DDP is an educational program that allows students to acquire degrees through study at two universities (the alma mater and another university), a distinctive form of education that is beginning to spread globally. Partner universities strengthen their organizational and ongoing education collaboration while offering distinctive classes for students to experience abroad. DDP students can acquire two degrees in a shorter period than they could finish a single university degree program. At Ehime University, the Graduate School of Science and Engineering along with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering course began a Master's level DDP, the first one at our university, with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Gajah Mada University in Indonesia. The program began in April of 2016.

About the International Joint Symposium
The International Joint Symposium is an event held between partner schools that have made agreements to share research. The event is held in English and aims to heighten the international sensibilities of participants, and is a chance to gain skills by presenting and discussing research. New discoveries can come out of close communication with participants from universities in various countries. The symposium is held every year, spanning four days in August.
