An information session for the 2023 short-term study abroad program was held on February 28th, and students interested in the program participated. The chairman of the Faculty of Engineering’s International Collaboration Committee explained the content of the program and scholarships, and said that short-term study abroad is a good opportunity to gain valuable experience, so he hopes that students will actively participate. This was a good opportunity for students interested in studying abroad to consider participating in the program.
The Graduate School of Science and Engineering (Department of Engineering) runs a short-term dispatch program as part of the international exchange program for graduate students. This year, we sent four students to Bandung Institute of Technology and two students to Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia.
We hold a report meeting every year by our dispatched students to share with other students the valuable experiences they gained while studying abroad. Approximately 30 people participated in the meeting, including faculty, students, and international students staying on a short-term program.
The six dispatched students reported on their experiences, and the participants listened intently to interesting stories such as activities in the research lab at the host university, local food, and interactions with local people. Questions were asked by the participants. Some students said that the bitter experience of being admitted to a local hospital while studying abroad during the coronavirus pandemic turned into an irreplaceable memory after receiving help from local people.
The dispatched students told the audience that It was an experience that could only be experienced by visiting the country and that they wanted other students to study abroad in this program while they still had the time.
On Wednesday, July 20, 2022, a departure ceremony was held for eight students who will be studying abroad for a short period at Bandung Institute of Technology, Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia, and National Yangming Jiaotong University in Taiwan.
They will stay at the host university for one month, conducting experiments and research in the laboratory, and deepening their interactions with local students.
At the departure ceremony, Dean Takahashi, Dean of the Engineering Department, told them to take extra care of their health as they were being dispatched during the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, International Cooperation Committee Chairman Nakahata asked for them to be careful about safety and make the month a meaningful one.
At the briefing session, the instructor talked about safety management at the destination and the emergency contact system. The participating students listened intently to the instructor’s talk.
An information session for the 2022 short-term study abroad program was held on Monday, May 30th, and students interested in short-term study abroad participated.
The program has not been held for about two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, but it will be held this year with safety in mind. At the information session, an overview of the program and how to apply were explained, and the participating students listened intently to the instructor’s talk. Students were advised to research and apply to the universities they are interested in on their own.
